Parents and Guardians—thank you so much for allowing your child(ren) to work with us today at OSU for Smokin’ Joe’s at the Boys in Oklahoma Concert. From the time we arrived at the stadium around 2:00pm, the students were working. They had to clean, and then start preparing food to sell. When they opened the gates at 3:30pm, our students worked non-stop until we ran out of food around 7:00pm. Then, they cleaned the stands and made sure they were left cleaner than we found them. Smokin’ Joe’s appreciates the hard work we put in for them. They are already asking to make sure we will be back during football season. This reflects well on you as parents because our students give 100% while we are there. Again, thank you for allowing your child(ren) to help us.

Coyle Schools is saddened to share that the OHP Trooper killed today in OKC is our own Vernon Brake, 1993 CHS Graduate. When I think of Vernon, I remember a young man who always had a smile on his face. Whenever he was back home for activities, he still had that smile and fond memories of his classmates, friends, and teachers. Vernon was active in FFA serving as an officer his junior and senior years. He played basketball and baseball and was a member of the “C” Club lettering in both sports. He was also a member of the coveted 12-Year Club—he attended Coyle Schools from Kindergarten to his senior year. Our prayers and deepest sympathies are with Vernon’s family at this time. We will post arrangements as soon as they are released by the family. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol released the following statement: It is with deep sorrow that the Oklahoma Highway Patrol announces the line of duty death of Trooper Vernon Brake. On April 8, 2026, at 11:27 a.m., a vehicle traveling southbound on I-35 lost control for an unknown reason and crossed the center cable barrier. The vehicle struck Trooper Brake, who was traveling in the northbound lanes just south of Hefner Road in Oklahoma City. Trooper Brake was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the other involved vehicle, along with a four-year-old passenger, were also pronounced deceased at the scene. Trooper Brake was a graduate of the 56th OHP Academy in 2006 and has proudly served the Oklahoma Highway Patrol for nearly 20 years, with a significant amount of time assigned to Troop S (commercial motor vehicle enforcement). After his graduation from the academy, he also served in Oklahoma and Logan Counties. Trooper Brake is survived by his wife and two children. Vernon Brake you will be missed—Mrs. Larman

What a magical evening at our Ties and Tiaras Dance! ✨👔👑

We had the best time making memories with our students and families, and it was wonderful to see everyone dressed up and looking so nice. Thank you to our amazing community for your support and for helping make this event such a special success. Your encouragement and involvement mean so much to our school family! 💙 In addition, if you paid for a group picture for this dance that night they were sent home yesterday with your student.

Thank you for helping us create such a beautiful night to remember!
