We want to make our families aware that we are responding to a serious and tragic incident that occurred this morning in the Meridian area and involved four of our Coyle students.
Thankfully, all four of our students are safe. Given the traumatic and graphic nature of the incident, including the fact that some of our students took action to contact authorities and assist during the situation, we recognize that this may have a lasting emotional impact on them and others who may have witnessed or been affected by what occurred.
We have been in direct contact with the families of the four students involved, and our staff has been notified so that we can provide appropriate support and care. Additional support will be available at school tomorrow for these students and for any other student who may need assistance processing what happened. We encourage students to talk with a trusted adult if they are struggling or simply need someone to listen.
We have also been in communication with the Logan County Sheriff's Office regarding the incident and any road closures or other conditions in the area that may have affected afternoon bus routes.
Our priority is, as always, the safety and well-being of our students and families. We ask our school community to respect the privacy of the students and families involved and to allow them the time and space they need to process this difficult experience.
Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by today's events. We are grateful for the students who had the courage to seek help and for the first responders and law enforcement officers who responded.

First of all, thank you to everyone who has or is ordering HOCO shirts. Secondly, there has been an unexpected delivery problem. They are supposed to be delivered tomorrow. Mrs. Miller is continuing to keep things exciting in the library for our students. This month students are able to grab an Uber Reads bag to help them step out of their comfort zone and branch out into different genres of books. Attached is the Library Newsletter for October! Remember, just because they don't fit in your lap anymore doesn't mean you can't read to them! Take turns reading together as a family for at least 20 minutes a day! Studies have shown that by doing this you will add 1.8 million words per year to their vocabulary and help them to become better test takers! But better than that, you will deepen the bond between you and your child! Happy reading!
❤️ Leadership, Learning, and Giving Back! 📚
Today, our Coyle FCCLA students attended the District Leadership Conference in Stillwater, where they learned the importance of setting goals, persevering through challenges, meeting new people, and becoming responsible leaders in their communities.
One of the highlights was learning about the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, founded in 1995 to promote childhood literacy. Students discovered how early access to books and reading to children from birth to age five can foster a lifelong love of learning and help prepare them for success in elementary school.
Our students are eager to explore ways to bring the Imagination Library to Logan County and the Coyle community. We need local program partners! Businesses, school districts, organizations, and individuals who share this mission can help make this opportunity possible for our youngest learners.
Our FCCLA members are also working on a plan to visit classrooms and read to younger students, putting their leadership and passion for literacy into action.
It takes a community to make a difference, and we are excited to see what our students can accomplish! Today was truly a valuable learning experience for our chapter. ❤️
